The Detroit Division honors Betsy Kellman, a civic servant who has spent years working to improve the lives of Michigan’s youth.

Mrs. Kellman is currently the co-chair of Advocates and Leaders of Policing and Community Trust (ALPACT). The organization, based in southeast Michigan, is composed of law enforcement officials and community-based civil rights leaders and advocates. Mrs. Kellman successfully bridged the gap between these entities by providing guidance and information on issues and concerns involving youth in southeast Michigan.

For 11 years, Mrs. Kellman served as the regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, where she worked on discrimination complaints and hate crime issues and provided educational training and outreach to law enforcement agencies. Mrs. Kellman was instrumental in the development of the nationwide No Place for Hate Program, which focuses on preventing bullying. Mrs. Kellman provides this no-fee program to students in elementary through high school.
