2012 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

Cincinnati John F. Wolfe

Anchorage field office Director’s Community Leadership Award 2011

The Cincinnati Division is pleased to honor John F. Wolfe, a distinguished civic leader, businessman, and philanthropist, as a recipient of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award.

Mr. Wolfe is a longtime community leader and supporter of federal, state, and local law enforcement. Since the 1940s, the Wolfe family has hosted senior FBI leaders and government dignitaries at a corporate property near Columbus, Ohio. Each year, the leadership of the Cincinnati and Cleveland Divisions of the FBI are invited to this venue for an opportunity to enhance relationships, discuss important issues, and cultivate partnerships. The Wolfe family also hosts the Ohio Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates for annual training and a public safety appreciation dinner to recognize those who serve their community. Law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, public safety, and Department of Homeland Security officials from the Central Ohio region are invited to attend this dinner, which has been held annually since the 1970s.

Mr. Wolfe is publisher of The Columbus Dispatch and is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of The Dispatch Printing Company. He also is the chairman of the board of WBNS TV, Inc.

He is the vice chairman of the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and the Columbus Partnership. He serves on the board of directors for the Ohio Business Roundtable and the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters, Director Robert S. Mueller, III recognized the recipients of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“Whatever the motivation—an unfilled need, a tragic occurrence, a desire to give back—these are people who make things happen and enlist others in their cause,” said Director Mueller. “They are activists who have earned their prestige through good works.”
